FAQs

  1. Q How do you charge for your services?
A Nearly all public relations agencies are compensated based on hourly rates. Carolina Image Builders’ fees range from $50 an hour for administrative/clerical assignments, such as developing a regional media list, to $250 an hour for crisis communications projects on an emergency basis.
  2. Q What are your strengths?
A We average 30 years of public relations and corporate communications experience in 24 industry or product categories, including several in the Carolinas. Equally important, we are exceptional writers with awards and achievements to prove it.
  3. Q Why should we hire you?
A Experience counts. We are capable of completing myriad projects with minimal direction for maximum results. We are a cost-effective solution to your communication needs "in the neighborhood."
  4. Q Who will be in charge?
A This will depend on the assignment. We have complementary talents and expertise adaptable to most circumstances. And whoever is the designated account supervisor can count on the other principal for advice and support. Occasionally, we hire contract professionals who work with our clients on a temporary basis.  But the client will have just one person to contact.
  5. Q How does public relations work?
A Our main objective is to build programs or complete projects that will enhance your image with the most important audiences for your business or membership. After conducting some basic research, our recommendation might be as simple as changing the manner in which your organization deals with incoming phone calls. Or arranging briefing sessions for your top management with key members of the press. For more extensive assignments, we provide the client with a monthly activity report summarizing what has been accomplished and outlining projects underway. We expect to be judged on the success of our programs and achievement of the goals that have been set.
  6. Q What is the value of public relations for our organization?
A Whether we realize or not, every company or association has a public relations image. Good or bad. And consumers are more inclined to purchase products or services from companies and organizations that have earned their trust. A sound public relations program will help build recognition for what you do and earn that trust.
  7. Q How do you determine the budget?
A If a client has a set figure in mind, Carolina Image Builders will draw on its experience to determine the number of hours it will take to reach the objective and submit a proposal based on those projections. If, during the course of the program, new initiatives emerge, the budget will need to be adjusted. Some clients prefer to establish a monthly retainer fee that will cover all activities and expenses.
  8. Q Do clients sign a letter of agreement?
A Yes. The letter of agreement is based on a formula developed over the years by the Counselors’ Academy of the Public Relations Society of America. It includes a cancellation clause that can be initiated by either party after 30, 60 or 90 days.

  9. Q What level of media coverage can clients expect?
A In smaller markets, such as Asheville, NC, and the four adjacent counties, the media opportunities are somewhat limited. But it is reasonable to expect a substantial news report, brief broadcast coverage, and an occasional television feature if the client has helped the agency develop a newsworthy event, new products or services of interest to consumers, or other news that is entertaining and informative. Such coverage could be generated on a monthly or quarterly schedule.
